Sir Robert Andrew (OK 1947)

Sir Robert Andrew (1947-2023) KCB MA FRSA joined the Junior School as a Surrey Scholar and went on to study at Merton College, Oxford. He had a distinguished career in the Civil Service, eventually becoming the permanent under-secretary of Northern Ireland. He served as Chairman of King’s College School’s governing body and President of the Old King’s Club.

He was in every way exemplary in that role: wise, courteous, compassionate, astute, cautious without ever being negative, and always loyal to the school’s values and purposes. He was unfailingly supportive of me and shared my concern for pastoral care and bursaries. He will be deeply missed for his integrity and his humanity.”
